GT independent study

I chose short stories for my independent study topic. I chose this topic because I want to know more about different people stories rather than just one in a book,I also absolutely love short stories. I chose the book 13: Thirteen Stories of the Agony an Ecstasy of Being Thirteen. I chose this book because this book sounds very interesting and I especially like that it is written by kids my age and with a variety of topics.

    I like how you said, "I absolutely love short stories." In your opinion, what makes short stories different from novels (besides the fact that they're short? Do you think that a good short story is harder to write than a good novel? Why?

    Ms. Klein, in my opinion short stories are different then novels because instead of being one continuous story of one person's or peoples life it is many different peoples stories of a particular event or episode of their life. I think that it is harder to write a good short story rather than a good novel because in a short story you would have to summarize a persons traits or an event because in a novel you can tell every trait about a person and an event in a lot of detail.

    Ivan, I didn't chose the book by the cover I said I just liked it because it had stories about and made by 13 year olds.

    Erica, i like that it is made by and about actual events of 13 year olds... my favorite things about short stories are that they are just of one event and you can read more of them in and still be interested because each short story is different
